The Reef Challenge

The Reef Challenge will ask budding entrepreneurs to think big, and pitch a product or service which could benefit the Great Barrier Reef. They will tackle environmental issues and solutions could range from awareness campaigns, to deploying new scientific devices – we're looking for blue sky thinking!

At the end of the day we invite parents and friends to join us for presentations and awards to the winning team.

Presented by BOP Industries with QUT The Cube. Mentors from QUT Entrepreneurship and QUT's Great Barrier Reef Community of Practice will take part in the day.

All workshop materials supplied. Please pack a water bottle and morning tea. A light lunch of pizza will be provided, participants with special dietary requirements are asked to bring a packed lunch.

Beginner level – no prior experience required.

LEARNING OUTCOMES:

  • Gain knowledge of topics such as; product design, marketing and branding, pitching, and different kinds of business models including social enterprises
  • Understand issues facing the Great Barrier Reef and surrounding communities
  • Develop skills in design thinking, rapid ideation and customer-centred design
